We also have 3 part time firefighters who work rotating 12 hour shifts. We also have a volunteer command officer and 32 volunteer firefighters.

Our Fire Department responds to a variety of incidents including fires, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous materials spills, gas emergencies, medical emergencies, and technical rescue incidents such as water and ice rescue, confined space rescue, vehicle extrication, etc.

Shepherdsville Fire Department has the only fully equipped swift water rescue team in Bullitt County. Last year we rescued 7 individuals from Bullitt County’s waterways. We have a fleet of four boats and a special operations command post loaded with all of the necessary rescue equipment for these situations.

In addition to emergency response, we assist the City with fire and building code enforcement and provide inspections for business occupancies. We also participate in the annual WHAS Crusade for Children in the Spring, Trunk or Treat in the Fall, Breakfast with Santa in the Winter, and many other community and school events throughout the year.
